Scott Roehl named Hog Nation's 2005 Minor League Player of the Year

 

HogNation.net announced that Scott Roehl has been named the 2005 Minor League Player of the Year, an honor given each year to the former Razorback player that accomplishes the most in minor league baseball. Former winners include Jarrett Gardner, Rodney Nye, Cliff Lee and Eric Hinske.

Scott split the 2005 season between Lake County (A-), Akron (AA) and Kinston (A+). He was 6-4 with a 1.65 ERA and 1 save in 44 games (10 starts) on the season. In 109 innings he had 25 walks and 103 strikeouts.

He began the season at Lake County, where he was 4-3 with a 2.34 ERA before being promoted to Akron on June 23rd. At Akron he was 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA in 2 games. Scott was sent down to Kinston on July 1st, where he finished the season, going 2-0 with a 1.04 ERA in the regular season. Scott and the Kinston Indians reached the playoffs, but lost in the Carolina League Championship series, 2 games to 3.

Scott was named the Hogs in the Minors Player of the Week 7 times this season.

At Arkansas, Scott was 16-9 in three seasons (2001-03), with a 4.11 ERA and 5 saves. He pitched Arkansas' most recent no-hitter as a freshman on March 20, 2001 against Kansas State.
