REPORT: Sample's stuff was good enough on its own -- an 86-88 mph fastball and a 76-77 curve with two-plane break -- but more impressive was his arm action. His arm works very well and he repeats his delivery as well as almost anyone here. He gets bonus points for having to pitch at altitude, which punishes pitchers who don't keep the ball down. Kendall Wehrle MIF / P 6-4 190 L / R Papillion, NE (Papillion-La Vista South High School Titans) Averaged 16 points and 5.7 rebounds per game for the basketball team in 2006-07. Also had 35 steals. Led the team in all three categories. 2007: Batted .484 with 44 hits, 10 doubles, 5 triples, 3 homeruns and 41 runs scored. First Team All-Metro Conference, First Team Super-State and Second Team All-Nebraska in '07. Playing for the M.P. Builders (Papillion-La Vista South) Legion team this summer. Was 32-84 (.381) with 30 runs, 6 doubles, 2 triples, 1 homerun, 16 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 2006. Went 5-6 in 14 games (8 starts, 2 CG, 2 SHO) on the mound with 1 save, 34 walks and 62 strikeouts in 38.1 innings. Fastball has been clocked in the mid-90's. DJ Baxendale RHP / INF 6-2 175 R / R Sylvan Hills (AR) High School Bears Played at Abundant Life High School in 2007. Took the loss in the 2A State Championship game in '07. 2008: Batted .438 (50-114) with 14 doubles, 2 triples, 4 homeruns, 48 RBI, 41 runs, 12 stolen bases, a .703 slugging % and a .614 OBP. 12-1 on the mound with 1 save, a 0.68 ERA in 82.2 innings, 121 strikeouts, 14 walks and an opponents batting average of .110. Led Sylvan Hills to the 2008 6A State Championship. Named the All-State Tournament MVP. Class 6A All-State in '08. Named the Top Underclassman in the State by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Invited to attend the Xi Summer Classic in 2008. Ran a 7.63 and 7.53 60. Played for the Sylvan Hills Bruins (AAA Legion) the summer of '08. Got a win (6 ip, 8 k, 2 h) on 7/19. Threw a complete game (2 h, 3 bb, 17 k) on 7/26. Took a loss (4 ip, 11 K, 2 runs) on 8/4. Fastball runs 88-90 with a hard sidearm slider at 78-81. Uses several arm angles to throw six pitches for strikes. Excellent student. Committed to the Hogs on July 17, 2008 after receiving an offer on the 16th. Recruited as a two-way player. Can play multiple positions in the field.

Derrick Bleeker SS / RHP 6-5 200 Longmont, CO (Skyline High School) Also plays football (WR/DB) and basketball. 2006: 4-0 on the mound as of 5/7. First Team All-Northern Conference (P) in '07. 2008: Hit a three-run homerun on 3/12. Threw a complete-game shutout (3 BB, 8 K) and went 2-4 with 2 runs and 2 RBI on 3/22. 2008: Hit .434 with 40 RBI. 5-1 with 56 strikeouts on the mound. First Team All-Northern Conference (INF) and All-Region (SS) in '08. Played for the Niwot Cougars Legion team during the summer of 2008. Went 6-8 with two doubles, two homeruns and seven RBI in two games on 6/17. Batting .672 with 3 homeruns and 13 RBI as of 6/20. 5-5 with one double, two runs and one RBI on 6/25. 3-3 with one homerun (5) and four RBI on 6/30. Raised his average to .625 on 6/30. Got a win (7.0 ip, 7 K, 5 walks, 4 runs, 3 earned runs) and drove in the go-ahead run (1-4, triple, RBI) on 8/14. 1-4 with an RBI on 8/15. Earned MVP and All-Tournament (SS) honors at the Blue Springs Wood Bat Invitational in Missouri on 7/13. Had two triples at the plate and had 10 strikeouts while giving up five hits on the mound in a 2-1 win in the Championship game. DVH was there to see him at some point during the tournament. Committed to Arkansas on August 1, '08 after reportedly receiving a 70% scholarship offer. Also had an offer from Nebraska. Plans to play both ways at Arkansas.

Paul Anzalone RHP / CF / SS 6-1 180 R / R El Dorado, AR Wildcats Lettered as a freshman in 2006. All-Conference 6A South in '07. Attended the Perfect Game National Underclass Showcase in 2007. PG REPORT: Long, slender frame, wide shoulders. Tall/fall delivery, throws downhill, ball comes out easily, FB 84-86 mph. CB nice pitch, 72 mph with hard spin, throws K's, projects plenty more velocity. Good athlete, good looking hitter, has bat speed. Will keep improving. He was named to the top prospect team at this event. Played in the 2007 WWBA World Championship. Invited to attend the Xi Summer Classic in 2007 & 2008. Ran a 6.8 and 6.81 60 in '08. 2008: Threw a five inning complete game (Win, 1 hit, 0 runs, 10 K's) on May 9. 6A All-State Tournament Team in '08. Attended the Perfect Game National Showcase in June 2008. PG REPORT: Paul uses a 3/4 arm angle and his fastball sat in the mid 80's. His fastball has life and he throws it for strikes. He flashed a good curveball at 72 mph. He stays tall in his delivery and uses a high leg kick that causes some deception. His arm works well in the outfield and he threw 89 from the OF. At the plate he has a line drive swing plane with bat speed. He is a good base runner and is also a good student.

Franco Broyles OF 6-1 170 R / R Fayetteville, AR Bulldogs Also a standout football player (WR/DB). 2008: Batted .347 with 2 homeruns, 24 RBI, 19 walks, 38 runs, a .531 slugging percentage and 20-22 stolen bases. Won the 2007 & 2008 7A State Championship in baseball. Named to the 7A All-State Tournament Team in 2008. Named to the Northwest Arkansas Times' All-County Team. Played for the Fayetteville Arvest Bulldogs (Legion) in the summer of '08. Very solid defensively in center.
