Tyler Sample RHP 6-7 240 R / R
Denver, CO (J. K. Mullen High School)

Missed the '06 season after Tommy John surgery.

2007: 1-0, 6 games, 4.73 ERA, 23.2 innings, 18 hits, 16 earned runs, 0 homeruns, 16 walks and 33 strikeouts.

Ranked #10 in ESPN's Top 25 at the 2007 Area Code Games.

REPORT: Sample's stuff was good enough on its own -- an 86-88 mph fastball and a 76-77 curve with two-plane break -- but more impressive was his arm action. His arm works very well and he repeats his delivery as well as almost anyone here. He gets bonus points for having to pitch at altitude, which punishes pitchers who don't keep the ball down.

Attended the Perfect Game National Showcase in 2007.

PG REPORT: Huge frame, room to get really strong. Simple delivery, stays tall, throws downhill, arm works very easily, future plus velo potential. Change has very good deception, CB flashes hard 12/6 break with depth. Good feel for his pitches, repeats delivery well for his size/age. High ceiling!

Played in the 2007 WWBA World Championships.

Signed in November 2007.

Named to the Rawlings Preseason All-American Team (Third Team) and All-West Region in March '08.
