1/30/03: Tampa Bay defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin agreed to a new contract that will make him the NFL's highest paid assistant coach and keep him with the Super Bowl champions. The contract is for three years and, with a value of $5.1 million, sets a new standard for assistant coaches. It includes a $1.1 million signing bonus and base salaries of $1.2 million (2003), $1.3 million (2004) and $1.5 million (2005).

1/16/03: Former University of Arkansas coach Frank Broyles received a lifetime achievement award from the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association during ceremonies at the Bear Bryant Award dinner.

1/16/03: Razorback defensive line coach Kacy Rodgers was hired to be the defensive tackles coach for the Dallas Cowboys (NFL).

1/14/03: Razorback quarterbacks coach David Lee was hired as an offensive assistant by the Dallas Cowboys (NFL).

1/13/03: Doug Scheel was hired to be the head head football coach at Berryville (AR) High School. He had been at Morrilton since 1998.

1/10/03: Former Hog assistant John Thompson hired four people with Arkansas ties to his coaching staff. J.B. Grimes, formerly at Texas A&M, will serve as ECU's offensive line coach and assistant head coach. Steve Janski and Matt Graves, both of whom served at Arkansas this past season, will coach the Pirates' tight ends and defensive backs, respectively. Also coming from Arkansas is Mike Ritchie, who will serve as director of football operations.

Mike Grob shot a 72-424 to tie for 34th and earn his 2003 PGA Tour card. Dean Pappas shot a 69-425 to tie for 39th and earn full playing privileges on the 2003 Nationwide Tour. Tag Ridings shot a 67-431 to tie for 87th.

11/15/02: Mike Grob and Brenden Pappas advanced to the PGA Tour Qualifying School's final stage at PGA West in LaQuinta, CA. on December 4-9. Grob won and Pappas finished second in the second stage in Orlando, FL.

11/14/02: Jen Kennedy Croft announced her retirement as Utah State's head soccer coach.

11/13/02: Former Razorback assistant football coach Clifton Ealy was named interim head coach for Fayetteville High School after spending the previous three years as an assistant for FHS.

11/7/02: Former Hog golfers John Daly and R.H. Sykes were among six inductees into the Arkansas State Golf Association Hall of Fame. Daly has four PGA Tour titles, including major victories at the 1991 PGA Championship and 1995 British Open. Sykes was the Rookie of the Year on the PGA Tour in 1964. As an amateur, he won the 1961 USGA Public Links Championship and later earned All-American status in 1963 as captain of the Razorbacks golf team.

10/31/02: Krystal Osborne was signed by the Grand Rapids Force of the U. S. Pro Volleyball league.

10/30/02: The Lincoln Saltdogs announced that Manager Les Lancaster will not be back to manage the club in 2003. Lancaster lead the team to two playoff appearances and an 85-53 record in two years.

10/30/02: Former NFL coach and Razorback player Jimmy Johnson was one of 74 preliminary nominees for the NFL Hall of Fame for 2003.

10/28/02: Oklahoma St. head basketball coach Eddie Sutton has agreed to a contract extension that will keep him on the job for another six years.

10/27/02: Pat Summerall called his 1,000th NFL game from the broadcast booth when Seattle played at Dallas.

10/27/02: Former Hog golfer Tag Ridings earned his PGA Tour card for 2003 after he finished among the top fifteen money leaders on the Buy.com Tour.
