NFL Teams: Head Coach of the Cleveland Rams (1937-38)

Important Notes: He was a fullback at the University of Chicago under Amos Alonzo Stagg...named an All-American as a junior in 1905...athletics director and football coach at Penn State (1918-29)...interim coach of the PSU basketball team in 1919...spent eleven years (1920-30) as the head baseball coach at Penn State...remained as the Nittany Lions' AD until 1937...first ever coach of the Rams NFL franchise...the only coach to ever lead three different teams to the Rose Bowl (Oregon, Mare Island Marines and Penn State)...passed away on September 19, 1952...inducted into the University of Oregon's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002.

Important Football Stats: 30-10-4 record at Oregon (1906, 1913-17)...65-30-11 at Penn State...126-58-16 (.670) record over 24 years in college...1-13 (.071) record at Cleveland.

Arkansas Notes: Head football coach from 1908-12...amassed a 29-13-1 (.674) record...team was 7-0 in 1909...credited with creating the 'Razorback' nickname...also coached at Delaware Valley, Oregon, and Penn State....inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1954...inducted into the Helms Foundation College Hall of Fame in 1960.

Strange but true: The only man ever to serve as a major league manager and a head coach in the NFL was a native of Czechoslovakia. Bezdek's family came to the U. S. when he was five years old and settled in Chicago.
