CFL Teams: Calgary (1961-72)

Important Notes: One of the greatest linebackers in Canadian Football League history...joined the Calgary Stampeders in 1961 and in his 12 seasons with them was selected to the Western Conference All-Star Team 11 times at middle linebacker, and the All-Canadian Team 8 times (1962, '64, '65, '66, '67, '68, '70, & '71)...Wayne played in three Grey Cups, losing two and winning one in 1971, where he was chosen most outstanding player of the game...he is rated by many as the greatest middle linebacker in Canadian history...was the CFL's Most Outstanding Lineman in 1965, '66, '70, & '71...won the Calgary Stampeders President Award in 1967 & '70...inducted into the CFL Hall of Fame in 1976...had his #55 retired by Calgary...inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2004.

Important Stats: 28 interceptions ranks fifth on the Calgary career list...398 interception return yards.

Arkansas Notes: Played at 210 and played both ways a center and linebacker... 174 tackles in 1960, an all time single-season record at Arkansas...lettered in 1958, '59, & '60...All-American in 1960...elected to the U of A Letterman's Association Hall of Honor in 1989...on the Arkansas All-Century Team and All-Decade Team of the 60's.
