Important Notes: Began his coaching career in 1964 as an offensive line coach at Arkansas, then spent two years as an assistant at Del City High School...served as defensive coordinator for Northeastern Oklahoma A&M's national championship team in 1967 before moving to Edmond, OK in 1968 as UCO's defensive coordinator....served in that capacity for nine years before taking over the head coaching job on March 17, 1977....finished as runner-up for the NAIA national championship in 1979...won the NAIA national championship in 1982...named the NAIA Coach of the Year in '82...led UCO in the transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II in the late 80's...named as coach of the UCO All-Century Team in 2005...inducted into the UCO Hall of Fame in 2005...named to the Lone Star Conference 75th Anniversary Team in 2006.

Records: The winningest coach in Oklahoma state college history...UCO's all-time winningest football coach with a 162-105-6 career record.

Arkansas Notes: Lettered from 1961 to 1963...helped the Razorbacks to one Southwest Conference championship and two Sugar Bowl berths.
