Coaching Jobs: Oklahoma St. (1979-83), Miami Hurricanes (1984-88), Dallas Cowboys (1989-93), Miami Dolphins (1996-99)

Important Notes: Began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Louisiana Tech in 1965 and then one year as an assistant at Picayune High School in Mississippi...was an assistant coach at Wichita State for a year then went to Iowa State in 1968 to become defensive coordinator...after two years, he went to Oklahoma as defensive line coach from 1970-72 but returned to Arkansas in 1973 for four years...was assistant head coach at Pittsburgh (1977-78) for two years before going to Oklahoma State as head coach...was the Big Eight Coach of the Year in his first season at Oklahoma St...coached Miami-FL to national title in 1987...won 36 consecutive regular season games from 1985 to 1988...hired by old friend and Dallas owner Jerry Jones to succeed Tom Landry in 1989...went 1-15 in '89, then led the Cowboys to consecutive Super Bowl victories in 1992 and '93...after leaving Dallas, Jimmy Johnson served as NFL analyst for FOX sports and HBO sports for two years before taking over the head coaching and general manager duties for the Miami Dolphins in 1996...member of the University of Miami sports Hall of Fame.

Records: College record of 81-34-3 in 10 years...29-25-3 at Oklahoma St...52-9 at the University of Miami...44-36 in the regular season at Dallas, 7-1 in the playoffs...38-29 with the Miami Dolphins.

Arkansas Notes: Three-year letterman...All-SWC defensive lineman on Arkansas' 1964 national championship team...a member of the 1960's All-Decade Team at Arkansas...inducted into the UA Letterman's Association Hall of Honor in 1999.
